Evergreeen Cemetery

The 47 acre Evergreen cemetery dates back to 1894. It is located at 4301 Alameda, El Paso, Texas. The cemetery was originally owned by R.H. Thorn. After Thorn’s death in 1919, A. B. Poe bought the cemetery. Poe was the owner of Poe Motor Company on Texas Street. Many figures who played significant rules in El Paso during the period of the Mexican Revolution are buried here. Some of these people came from such faraway countries as Spain, England, Germany, France, Lebanon, Mexico and other countries.” Poe died in 1951 and his son A.B. Poe III (Tito) constructed a mausoleum and office building. After Tito’s death in 1962. The cemetery is divided into sections, A to Z Section A starts in the center of the cemetery where five roads meet and subsequent sections expand clockwise (there is no “G” or “N.”). Small cement markers designate each section.
