The site of the El Paso Times from the 1890s to 1919 when it became the offices of the Labor Advocate newspaper, the Labor Temple and (in the 30s) El Continental. The El Paso Times under the direction of editor/publish Juan Hart was banned from Mexico by Porfirio Díaz for its critical coverage of the Mexican dictator. During the Mexican Revolution it was frequently accused of being a pro-Villista newspaper and had former Villista on the staff of its Spanish-language section until Villa’s raid on Columbus in March 9, 1916.
